Dear Mayor Knickerbocker:

This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter to NRC Chairman Kristine L. Svinicki received February 19, 2020, regarding your request that both extend the public comment period for the license transfer application of Indian Point Energy Center by Entergy Nuclear Operations to Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC from 30 days to 60 days, and to hold a local public hearing regarding this application.

On January 23, 2020, the NRC published a notification in the Federal Register that opened a 30-day public comment period on the license transfer application. The comment period is scheduled to close today, February 24, 2020. The NRC staff has agreed to extend the comment period for an additional 30 days, until March 25, 2020. A notice of this extension will be published in the Federal Register.

Regarding your request for a public meeting, a response is under preparation which will be forwarded to you shortly.
