Decommissioning Funding Plan

Dear Sir:

In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.33 and 50.75, the following decommissioning funding report for the University of Illinois LOPRA reactor is hereby submitted:

1) The estimated cost of decommissioning the University of Illinois LOPRA reactor is included in the estimate of $2.4_million for decommissioning the University of Illinois Advanced TRIGA reactor facility (Docket No. t 50-151). In the event that the LOPRA reactor is decommissioned prior to the decommissioning of the TRIGA facility, the estimated cost for its -

decommissioning is $20,000. Thu LOPRA is housed in the Bulk Shielding Tank (BST) of the TRIGA reactor.

Removal of the BST is not considered to be part of the decommissioning of the LOPRA.

2) The University of Illinois is a state government institution and therefore, in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.75 (e) (2 ) (iv) , the funds needed for decommissioning will be requested at the time when a decision to decommiscion the facility is made.

3) The cost estimate for decommissioning the facility will be periodically adjusted for inflation, taking account of.new data it available. Revised estimates will be.

reported to the commission at intervals not to exceed five years.
