Dear Director:

In my letter of December 12, 1989, I stated that a specific l decommissioning plan would be submitted to the NRC on or before July 27,

< 1990. This plan is in its final stages of preparation, but we have been delayed in producing the cost estimate because of delays in obtaining ,

isotope analyses of some concrete shield core samples. The final cost  ;

estimate should be less than $500,000, but this is not yet a firm figure.

t To permit an accurate decommissioning plan, we ask for a sixty-day extension on our submission date.
