Dear Mr. Adams:
The University of Virginia Reacter Facility management respectfully requests NRC approval of an- amendment to UVAR TS Figure 6.1. The enclosed figure was approved by our Reactor Safety Committee on July 2, 1990.
Justification The figure is an update of the current figure listed in the UVAR Technical Specifications. It reflects the desired U.Va.
Reactor Facility organizational structure into the foreseeable future. Given that the important independence between h(alth physics and reactor operations continues to be maintained, these minor changes in channels of responsibility and communications should be allowed by the NRC.
Note: The = version of Figure 6.1 in the UVAR " LEU" Technical Specifications recently submitted to the NRC should be replaced with the updated figure upon NRC approval of the amendment request. The " LEU" TS Will enter into effect once the conversion of the UVAR from high enriched uranium to low enriched uranium fuel is accomplished.
