1 have received your-letter of June 4,1990, expressing your concern
-about the wording of the ALARA requirement in the pending major revision of 10 CFR Part 20.
I have provided a copy of the letter to the staff in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.who have primary responsibility for this rule chdnge. They are also placing copies of the letter in the docket file for this rulemaking ano in the NRC Public Document Room.
As you know, tnis major revision of Part 20 is with the Commission and we understend-they are expected to reach a decision soon. Therefore, it is not clear to what extent your comments can be considered before the Commission
-takes action on this matter.
