Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket Nos. 50-282 License Nos. DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Plant Specific Safety and Relief Valve Performance Report Attached is a Westinghouse report entitled, "PJR Safety and Relief Valve Adequacy Report for Northern States Power Company, Prairie Island Unit 1 and Unit 2".

This is the plant specific report of safety and relief valve performance required by NUREG-0737, Item II.D.1.2.

This report was not completed at the time our July 1, 1982 report was' submitted.

The attached report demonstrates that the valves, piping arrangements, and fluid inlet conditions for Prairie Island Units 1 and 2 were bounded by those valves and test parameters of the EPRI Safety and Relief Valve Test Program.

Northern States Power Company is reviewing with Westinghouse and Crosby the necessity of making ring adjustments to the safety valves, based on the EPRI test results and our plant-specific inlet piping arrangements.

At present, there is no evidence that changes in ring settings must be made; however, if the review indicates adjustments are required, we will complete them at the next refueling outage of each unit if possible.

Please contact us if you have any questions concerning this report.
