DOCKET NO. 50-266 INSERVICE INSPECTION LONG-TERM PLAN POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 1 This letter is to update you on our progress towards revising the long-term inservice inspection plan for Point Beach Nuclear Plant Unit 1.
As stated in our letter dated October 6, 1981, the Unit 1 inservice inspection long-term plan is being updated to the 1977/ Summer 1979 Edition / Addenda of ASME Section XI.
The extent of examination of Class 1 and 2 piping welds is being determined in accordance with the 1974/ Summer 1975 Edition / Addenda of ASME Section XI as permitted by 10 CFR 50.55A(b) (2) (ii) and (b) (2) (iv).
In the October 6 letter we indicated this plan update would be completed in June 1982.
The Unit 1 long-term plan is essentially complete and is currently undergoing final internal Wisconsin Electric review and approval.
After this review is complete and the Manager's Supervisory Staff has accepted the inservice inspection long-term plan, a letter detailing those items for which ASME Code relief is required will be submitted for NRC staff review.
It is anticipated that this submittal will~be made in early August 1982.
As stated in Mr.
R. A.
Clark's letter dated March 12, 1982, the NRC review of Technical Specification Change Request No. 42 is expected to be complete by August 1982.

Denton July 15, 1982 No. 42 is necessary since this change request concerns the adoption of ASME Section XI as the governing document for inservice inspection at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
