LASALLE COUNTY STATION:
Unit 1 Ill. EVENT DESCRIPTION The N.P.D.E.S. Permit maximum Ilmit for concentration of total suspended solids (15 mg/I) in Outfall 001c - Low Volome Wastes was exceeded in the Regenerative Wastes Solution Discharge Tank on 5/26/82.
Chemical analysis i
of a composite sample for the discharge Indicated the TSS concentration to be 131 mg/1. This occurrence is being reported under Tech Spec, App. B, Section 3.2.,
IV.
PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES OF THE OCCURRENCE The general public's health and safety was not affected by this occurrence.
Total Suspended Solids excursions for this outfall is a continuing situe-tion.
Although no one single source of TSS can he identified, multiple sources will result in probable future excursions.
V.
CAUSE on 5/25/82, clean up af ter maintenance in the area resulted in dirt and debris being hosed down area floor drains'.
These floor drains are routed to the Regen. Wastes Soln. Discharge Tank (0WM03T).
Since no further treatment of this tank prior to discharge is provided, the high total suspended solids from the clean up activities resulted in the N.P.D.E.S.
Permit limit be,ing exceeded.
VI.
CORREYlVEACTION Instructions have been provided to the operators to discontinue flushing excessive amounts of dirt and debris into floor drains.
Also, floor drains routed to N.P.D.E.S. outfalls have been identified and labeled appropriately.
