Dear Dr. Jerrett:
This will confirm the recent telephone discussion between Richard L. Woodruff of my staff and your office concerning two meetings that will be held in Atlanta on June 8, 1982, and June 9 - 10, 1982. The first meeting will be a public meeting concerning " Certification of Industrial Radiographers" and the second meeting will be on the use of the new " Sealed Source and Device Review" catalogue.
The public meeting on " Certification of Industrial Radiographers" will be held at the Colony Square Hotel, Peachtree and 14th Street, on June 8, 1982, between 9:00 a.m.
and 5:00 p.m.
The puroose of this meeting is to seek public comment or proposals and alternatives to licensing (or certification) of individual industrial radiographers in radiation safety. Public comments will be received by a panel composed of NRC and Agreement State representatives.
The second meeting will be a training session for State Agreement representa-tives and NRC personnel to be held in the Region II office on June 9 and 10, 1982.
This meeting will be on the implementation and use of a management control system for sealed source and device reviews. This system was cescribed in a package sent to you dated March 25, 1982.
A bound copy of the sealed source and device catalogue will be provided to each State during the meeting.
A tentative schedule for this meeting is as follows:
