20555 RE: FE-NRC-F07012-IL (82-005-701)
Deae Mr. Williams:
We have completed our review of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) related to the Operation of Clinton Power Station Unit No.1, DeWitt County, Illinois. The proposed action is the issuance of an operating license to the Illinois Power Company for the startup and operation of the Clinton Power Station Unit 1.
Unit I will use a boiling - water reactor to generate 933 megawatts of electrical energy.
Cooling water for condenser cooling will be obtained from Lake Clinton which was created by Illinis Power for this purpose.
On February 22, 1982, we sent our comments on the draft EIS prepared for this proposal. Our only comment was related to the preparation of the emergency radiological response plan for the Clinton Station. Once this is completed, we will provide comments on the environmental aspects of this plan.
We appreciate the opportunity to review this final EIS.
Sincerely yours, M
~
