Dear Mr. Stolz :

Your letter of June 7, 1982 to Mr. E. G. Bauer forwarded a Request for Additional Information (RAI)'regarding environmental qualification of safety related electrical equipment at Peach Bottom Units 2 and 3 (RAI-C5257-493 Rev. 4 and 494 Rev. 4, both dated May 28, 1982).

As per the instructions contained within the RAI, the requested information is being forwarded directly to Mr. C. J.

Crane at Franklin Research Center.

The requests are restated below followed by our Bl. Reference 1 does not provide adequate detail with respect to identification of TMI Action Plan equipment installed after 1/1/81.

B2. The qualification documents, e.g., the actual test reports and associated correspondence cited as evidence of qualification listed on the SCEW sheets, for all identified TMI Action Plan equipment are requested.

(The identification of those reports considered to be proprietary is requested so that proper control of documents can be maintained.)

Philadelphia Electric has endorsed the BWR Owners' Group positions on the following NUREG-0737 item.

II.K.3.16 Reduce challenges to safety-relief valves II.K.3.18 Automatic Depressurization System actuation logic II.E.4.2(5)* Containment pressure setpoint II.K.3.21* Restart of Emergency Core Cooling System logic II.K.3.24 HPCI/ FCIC Spare Cooling II.K.3.25 Power on pump seals II.K.3.45 Manual Depressurization Our positions on. items noted with an asterisk have been accepted by the Commission. The remaining items are pending NRC review.

The only uncompleted NUREG-0737 items for which we have requested a schedule implementation change are as follows:

a. II. A.2. Meteorological System - requested a January 1, 1983 completion date,

b. II.F.1(6) Containment Hydrogen Monitor - Requested that the environment qualification of the hydrogen monitor be performed in accordance with the schedule applicable to our efforts in response to IE Bulletin 79-01B.
