Dear Mr. Bernard:

Reference:

Letter, H. Bernard to G. Wuller dated June 23, 1982 i

"Humphrey's Concerns Regarding Mark III Containments" l

The referenced letter requested a schedule for addressing the Humphrey concerns as they apply to the Clinton Power Station.

We are currently planning for such a schedule.

Our current efforts include the following:

1.

Forming a special Owners' Group to deal with these matters or addressing them through the efforts of an existing Owners' Group--

possibly the BWR Containment Owners' Group.

2.

Meeting either July 22 or 23 to discuss with GE and the other Mark II and III Owners a plan for addressing the generic issues which have been identified.

3.

Monitoring an ACRS meeting of July 28 or 29 which GE advises us is being scheduled to examine some of the issues which have been raised on this subject.

These and other matters have been the subject of our many recent discussions with various owners.

These discussions and the above are expected to-be the basis for a definitive CPS program.

Our program will be coordinated with the efforts of other BWR Owners in the near future.

However, to assure that our program includes the results of the items enumerated above, it will be transmitted to the NRC some time in early or mid-August.

If you have any further questions in this regard, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely, D
