SUMMARY
OF OPERATIONS FOR MAY 1982 s
May 1, the unit was on the line operating at 98% power. Commencing Fby 3, reactor power was trimmed on the low tide to maintain condenser JST below 32* F.
On May 12, at 1403 hours0.0162 days
0.39 hours
0.00232 weeks
5.338415e-4 months
, the reactor scrammed while performing high risk testing on the ATWS System.
Front panel checks were performed and condenser was backwashed. On May 13, commenced a reactor start-up and before critcality was reached, the reactor scrammed while performing maintenance on the ATWS System. Reactor was brought critical at 2052 on May 13.
On May 14, at 0643, the unit was synchronized to the grid and power increased to 50%.
Continued raising power to 80%, then reduced to 50% to adjust rod pattern.
On May 15, while increasing power, experienced oscillations on the EPR.
Continued to increase power to 98% which was reached on May 16.
May 19, the reactor scrammed on APRM hi flux when turbine ran back due to stator cooling temperature problems. The reactor was brought critical on May 19 at 2108 hours0.0244 days
0.586 hours
0.00349 weeks
8.02094e-4 months
.
While bringing unit up, condenser was backwashed, mode switch to run at 0031 on May 20.
May 20, at 1118 hours0.0129 days
0.311 hours
0.00185 weeks
4.25399e-4 months
, unit was synchronized to the grid. On May 23, "B" condensate pump failed, power was reduced to 60%, then increased to 70%.
May 30, backwashed and heat treated condenser and power increased to 75%.

REFUELING INFORMATION The following refueling information is included in the Monthly Rep' ort as
~
requested in a letter to Mr. G. C. Andognini dated January 18, 1978:
For your convenience, the information supplied has been enumerated so that o
each number corresponds to equivalent notation utilized in the request.
1.
The name of this facility is Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Docket Numb'er 50-293.
2.
Scheduled date for next Refueling Shutdown:
Sep tember, 1983, l
3.
Sche'duled date for restart following refueling: November, 1983 4.
5.
Due to their cimilarity, requests 4, 5, & 6 are responded to collect'ively:
6.
The fuel, which had been loaded during the 1981 scheduled refueling outage, is of the same P8x8R design, as loaded the previous outage con-sisting of 112 P8DRB282 assemblies and 60 P8DRB265 assemblies.
7.
(a)
There are 580 fuel assemblies in the core.
(b) There are 936 fuel assemblies in the speEt fuel pool.
~
8.
(a)
The station is presently licensed to store 2320 spent fuel assemblies.
The actual spent fuel storage capacity is 1770 fuel assemblies at present.-
(b)
The planned spent fuel storage capacity is 2320 fuel assemblies.
9.
With precent spent fuel in storage, the spent fuel pool now has the capacity to accommodate an additional 834 fuel assemblics.
