Docket No. 50-320 Personnel Airlocks GPU letter 4400-82-L-0090 which responded to several NRC questions on the Personnel Airlocks (PAL's) committed GPU to provide the NRC with a proposal for performing surveillances on the alternate equipment hatch airlock. Accordingly, GPU has reviewed the airlock design and determined that following the present maintenance and lubrication program an annual surveillance will be initiated. This surveillance will consist of inspection and lubrication of the following components:
1.
Door hinges and interlock shaft pillow blocks 2.
Interlock shaf t universal joints 3.
Latch and valve linkage pivots 4.
Push / pull cable and 1cver 5.
Chain drives interlock system Other major components in the airlock such as the door latches, the Geneva gear unit, and the interlock system are considered to be " lifetime" lubricated by the manufacturer; therefore, no surveillances are proposed for these components.
