In response to your application dated November 17, 1980, as supplemented May 19, 1982, enclosed is Certificate of Compliance No. 6679. Revision No. 4 for Model No. 6679 packaging. This certificate supersedes, in its entirety, Certificate of Compliance No. 6679. Revision No. 3, dated l
March 31, 1980.
l The enclosed certificate has been changed in its entirety.
The Cartificate of Compliance has been renewed until December 31,1982 and authorizes use of the Mode A package only. This is because the application fails to demonstrate that the Mode B package would meet the shielding and containment requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71 for hypothetical accident conditions. Renewal of the certificate to authorize continued use of the Mode A package beyond December 31, 1982 will require an acceptable response to Question Nos.1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 in our letter of November 27, 1981. Note that the response to Question No. 8 should include an explicit demonstration that the closure system is adequately designed for the weight of the contents under 30-foot drop test conditions.
Those on the attached list have been registered as users of this package under the general license provisions of 10 CFR 571.12(b) or 49 CFR 5173.393a.
