Dear Sir:

Subject:

Use of Shif t Technical Advisor (STA) as Fire Brigade Team Leader Reference (b) approved the interim use of the Shift Technical Advisor (STA) as fire brigade team leader until July 1 1982. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that an extension of that date may be required. As Reference (c) indicates, it is Vermont Yankee's intent to meet the impleuntation schedule of NUREG-0737, Item I.A.l.3.2, Shift Manning Requirements. However, our ability to meet the require-ment is predicated on the timely receipt of the results of our most recent Hot License Program.

If the necessary number of license candi-dates pass the exam to allow for increased staffing levels, the STA will be relieved of his fire brigade leader duties.

In the interim, we intend to continue to use the STA as fire brigade team leader.

We trust that this information is acceptable; however, should you desire additional information, please contact us.

Very truly yours, VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION m w.68 L s.w.

E.W. Jackson Manager of Operations
