SUBJECT:
EXPANDING NRC RULES AND REGULATIONS NOTEBOOKS j
TO FOUR VOLUMES As a subscriber to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Rules and Regulations (Title 10, Chapter 1, Code of Federal Regulations), you have observed the tremendous growth in the NRC's rulemaking activities e
during the past two years.
During that time, the NRC's loose-leaf regulations notebooks grew from two to three large volumes. Currently, despite the deletion of many obsolete materials, we are faced with the need to expand into a fourth volume.
2 Before the August 1982 expiration of your current two year subscription A to the NRC's Rules and Regulations, we would like to solicit your views <$ -
regarding proposed changes in the format of the loose-leaf regulations Q notebooks. The NRC is considering a smaller page format, 6" x 9", rather Q than the current letter-sized sheets. As a result of this proposal, the.
i information would fill approximately seven or eight,1 1/2" notebooks, '
rather than the four, 3" books we othemise would issue.
However, the regulations will be grouped. according to subject matter of CFR parts, soi,'.
2 that certain related parts kill be contained within one notebook.
- this format, all notices that pertain to a particular part will be, Under:.y.0 ^J 2 OUWyrd included in the. same volume for easy rvference. So for example, all of WFM the petitions for rulemaking, proposed rules, final rules, statements ofai$'; ^
consideration, as well as policy statements and memoranda of under-
?$M ".
I standing, if any, for Part 50 would be contained in a separate volume.

and to offer the potential of selective subscription to particular CFR 1
parts or groups of parts.. In order to determine the feasibility of this

project, we would appreciate your response to the questions on the attached questionnaire. We would also welcome any comments you may have regarding this proposed format change.
Sincerely, kb ah s.
