PERFORMANCE OF WETWELL/DRYWELL VACUUM BREAKERS IN MARK 1 CONTAINMENTS UNDER DYNAMIC LOADING CONDITIONS DURING THE POOL SWELL PHASE OF A LOCA This is in reponse to your memorandum of May 24, 1982, on the subject matter.
We were informed of the potential relevance of this problen to the Mark 1 l
Containments by J. Kudrick of CSB prior to the May 20, 1982 Mark II Owners Group Meeting. Since that time the following actions have occurred:
The Mark 1 Owners Group was informed of the meeting with the Mark II Owners Group and invited to attend.
Shortly after the May 20, 1982 Mark II Owners Group Meeting the Mark 1 Owners Group was requested '
myide infomation to justify why this problem is not applicable 1 vacuum breakers.
In a May 26, 1982 conference call to B. Siegel, F. Eltawila, and J. Kudrich, General Electric volunteered to submit a letter report to NRC addressing the applicability of this issue to Mark l containments for staff review within two weeks.
l Based on initiative taken by the Mark 1 Owners Group through General Electric l
to resolve this issue, a meeting is not required at this time. However, l
depending on the contents of the submittal, one may be required in the future.
