Dear Mr. DeYoung:
At our meeting on January 28, 1982, I described two internal committees which were formed by Boston Edison to increase corporate level attention to our Nuclear Organization. Those two committees were the Board of Directors Nuclear Operations Review Committee comprised of three members of the Boston Edison Board, and the Nuclear Executive Support Committee comprised of three senior vice presidents. The purpose of the second committee was to give guidance and counsel to Mr. William D. Ilarrington during the transition period as he assumed responsibility and authority fo~ all nuclear activities at Boston Edison.
We, at Boston Edison, are confident that the transition period for Mr. Ilarrington has been completed and he is firmly established as the corporate officer fully responsible for nuclear activities at Boston Edison.
For that reasen,' it is our intention to disband the Nuclear Executive Support Committee as a standing committee effective July 1, 1982.
liowever, the members of that Committee stand ready at any time Mr. Ilarrington requests their assistance. Both Mr. Galligan and I will continue our personal involvement in the Nuclear Organization and reaffirm our commitment which we both have stated to you.
I thought it appropriate to inform you of this action as I had described the multiple actions taken by Boston Edison at our meeting on January 28, 1982.
