Dear Mr. Stoiber:
Enclosed please find a letter from Saunders-Roe Development, Inc.~ requesting an amendment to its export license XB001010. The license presently authorizes-the export of 1,000,000 curies of tritium gas to the U.K._ for the production of scaled light sources. The expiration date of the license is currently September 15, 1982. Saunders-Roe has requested an increase in the quantity of material to be exported to 1,300,000 curies and an extension of the expiration date to September 15, 1983.
To date the licensee has shipped approximately 750,000 curies against the license.
Before taking action on this license amendment, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures, as to whether the proposed amendment meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 as amended by the Nuclear flonproliferation Act of 1978.
