VISIT FROM CENTRAL VALLEY WATER RECLAMATION I '/fV g
(CVWRF) REPRESENTATIVES 4
On May 3, 1982, Rodney Dahl and Neff Peterson of the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility (CVWRF), an UMTRAP vicinity property located immediately adjacent to the Vitro processing site (now owned by Central Valley), met with WMUR staff (D. Martin and K. Hamill) to present their concerns and objections to the possible on-site reclamation of the Vitro tailings. On-site stabilization of the Vitro tailings could seriously impact the potential for needed expansion of the water reclamation facility. Central Valley recently acquired the Vitro site in order to provide needed expansion area.
The principle reason for the visit to Washington by CVWRF representatives was to visit the Department of Energy's headquarters staff. However, while they were in town, Dahl and Peterson took the opportunity to i
personally present and explain their objections to on-site stabilization to the NRC staff as well.
In addition, CVWRF representatives asked for and received clarification of NRC's concurrence and cversight roles in j
the remedial action program under Title I of the Uranium M'11 Tailings Control Act of 1978.
