SUBJECT:

Grand Gulf Nuclear Station n

Units 1 and 2 c

Docket Nos. 50-416 and 50-417 File 0260/0277/L-860.0/0755 NRC Region II Emergency Response AECM-82/93 Your letter of February 12, 1982 contained a correction to the enclosure of your letter dated January 29, 1982. The enclosure addresses those items included as general guidance in NUREG-0696, " Functional Criteric for Emergency Response Facilities", and indicates these are items you feel are required in order to perform your emergency duties in the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GCNS) Technical Support Center (TSC) and Emergency Operations Facility (EOF).

In AECM-81/52, dated February 12, 1981, and AECM-81/25, dated April 8, 1981 (copies enclosed), we transmitted to you a description of what would be provided in the GGNS emergency response facilities.

The provisions for space and equipment are based on GGNS site-specific characteristics and design, and vere demonstrated to be adequate in the NRC-reviewed emergency exercise held last November. They do not encompass all of the items in NUREG-0696, because many of those items are not technically feasible or possible; for example, our telephone company representatives inform us the requested consoles cannot handle all of the lines listed in item B.S.

We do feel, however, that what we will be providing will be suf ficient for your needs.

If you have any further questions, please contact this office.

Your. truly, L. F. Dale Manager of Nuclear Services PBB/LRM/JDR:rg f
