SUiWARY OF !%RCH 26, 1982 MEETIf!G RECARDING FEPJ112 FUEL LOAD DATE On March 26, 1982, representatives of Detroit Edison net with the llRC staff to discuss the current estinated fuel load date for Ferni 2.
A list of attendees is enclosed.
Applicant stated that in October 1981 when the Caseload Forecast Panel visited the site, the Detroit Edison target fuel load date of November 29, 1982 had a maximun negativity of 45 weeks. Since then, the critical path itens have been reevaluated and as a result the maximun negativity is now 26 weeks. The current estimated fuel load date is therefore June 19R3; however, the applicant is continuing to evaluate critical path items to reduce maximun negativity below 26 weeks. Applicant has started preoperational tests and believes its estimate of 13 months to complete then is realistic because some of the tests normally i
considered to be preoperational tests at other plants are being run as construc-tion tests and initial operation tests at Fermi 2.
. The staff said its estinated fuel load date of February 1984 that resulted from the Caseload Forecast Panel visit in October 1981, was based on an estinated 22 months to complete preoperational tests following hydrostatic testing of the reactor vessel in April 1982. Based on current status supplied by applicant, the hydrostatic testing of the reactor vessel is scheduled for May 1982 and 5 of 141 preoperational tests have been started. On the basis of applicant's current analysis of reduced negativity in its schedule, the staff changed its estimated fuel load date to December 1983; however, the Caseload Forecast Panel will reassess the fuel load date in August 1982 when a substantial fraction of preoperational tests are scheduled to be conpleted.
i The applicant will send a letter to the staff providing its currently estimated fuel load date of June 1983, the basis for that estinate, and efforts being made to improve on that date. The staff's current estinated fuel load date is December 1983.
