SUBJECT:

SUMRY OF iMRCH 4,1982 CRBR REVIEW MEETING A meeting was held on March 4,1982 in Bethesda, Maryland to continue the NRC review of the applicants' organization structure and qualifications.

The meeting was attended by Messrs. J. Anderson, P. Brewington, R. Copeland, J. Green and J. Longenecker of the applicants and Messrs. F. A11enspach, G. Rivenbark and R. Stark of the NRC staff. The applicants described the functions of the CRBR Project Office. This discussion included detailed descriptions by the applicants' key personnel in the following areas: a) Project Director, b) Engineering, c) Quality Assurance, d)

Operations Division, and e) Licensing and Environmental Assessment. The applicants' discussion also included detailed responses to NRC staff questions, such as:

the role of Breeder Reactor Corporation and the role of the Project Steering Consnittee.

The NRC staff finds this portion of the applicants' organization to be functioning acceptably. The staff, however, recommends that the Operations Division have a more active role in the design review process. This should include significant responsibility for the design review of field modifications and future design changes.

The staff will continue its review of the applicants' organization. The staff plans to review the function of the Lead Reactor Manufacturer in i

the near future.
