h w k+4 O b E (f %. AsocA {wM eM MEMORANDUM FOR: Tom Rehm, Assipt9nt Director Executive Di tor for Operations FROM:
Stephen K ntt Office of Congressional Affairs
SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOR MEETING REGARDING SH0REHAM As per our telephone conversation, Cathy Tynan of Congressman Tom Downey's staff called on behalf of local Suffolk County (N.L) legislators wishing to set up an appointment with someone at the NRC to_ discuss " safety" (nothing more specific) at the Shoreham fa.cjli.ty_fn_Long Island.
The request was for a meeting with the CEa'irman.
However, I explained to Ms. Tynan the ex parte difficulties with such a meeting and she thought it would be accept-able for the legislators to meet with Mr. Denton or another staff person.
Downey's office was contacted by Wayne Prospect, a member of the 18-member Suffolk County Legislature.
Apparently, he is trying to set up a meeting for a group of legislators.
His number (office) is (516) 242-1777.
It would be preferable for them to have any meeting scheduled for a Friday.
I told Ms. Tynan that I would forward the request for a meeting to our Executive Director for Operations and that we would have someone from the staff contact Mr. Prospect directly to make the necessary arrangements ggg and to get a better idea of the group's interests.
I promised to let her know when a meeting had been set up.
