Provide good quality, legible drawings of the cask models and the various inserts used. Drawings should show the general arrangments of packages, I

and appropriate details including welds, dimensions, and materials of construction that are significant to package performance.

STRUCTURAL 1.

Provide analysis of the cask primary containment vessels to demonstrate structural adequacy of the design. Conditions of loading and thermal environment in Regulatory Guide 7.8 and design criteria in Regulatory Guide 7.6 may be used.

I 2.

The possibility of buckling of the cask shell should be addressed for the 30-foot bottom drop case.

3.

Stresses in the cask including the bending stresses due to secondary

' impact should be calculated for both the side drop and the oblique drop conditions.

OPERATING PROCEDURES The operating procedures do not include an assembly verification leak test for the cask containment closure. The assembly verification test should be performed on the loaded cask pGor to eg/sec an assembly ch shipment. For the specified containment criter 10 ata-cm verification test of 1 x 10 ja of 1 g/sec (air at 1 atm and 25'C leaking ata-cm to a 1 x 10~2 ateambient)wouldbeadequate.

MAINTENANCE PROGRAM Specify the frequency and sensitivity of the periodic leak test in paragraph 7.2.2 of the Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP). To satisfy the American National Standards Institute's ANSI N14.5, the test sho 10-yldbepg/sec).rformed annually to the leaktightness criteria (i.e., 1 x atm-cm l
