Dear Sir:

Pursuant to a condition in License R-95, you are hereby notified that on April 16, 1982 about 10:30 a.m. during startup of the reactor, the period circuits of the wide range log N channel failed so as to provide no period information to the operator or to the scram circuits. The operator, real-

  • izing he had log N information and no period information, shut down the reactor and notified the senior operator. At the time the reactor was at very low power. There were no simultaneous failures in other circuits.

This information was telephoned to Mr. Robert Gallo, Region 1, Nuclear Regulatory Commission at about 10:45 a.m.
