YAEC DNliR Limit Methodology and Application to the Maine Yankee Plant

Dear Sir:

The development of a new statistically derived DN!!R limit for the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station is described in YAEC-1296-P, attached.

The correlation ut ilized is a modification to the CE-1 and is designated as YAEC-1.

A DNBR limit of 1 17 was derived using this correlation and experimental data.

This DN!!R limit, in conjunction with YAEC-1, will be applied to the Maine Yankee Cycle 7 operat ion.

We anticipate that Cycle 7 operation will connence in November, 1982.

The re f o re, formal review and approval would be necessary prior t.o submittal of the Cycle 7 reload analysis in order to make use of the new correlation in support of Cycle 7 operat ion.

Members of our staf f will be available to meet with you and discuss this new methodology at your convenience.
