lis. C. Couan of your staff that it is to be held the lait week in I!cvember and will concentrate upon both the state-of-the-art of the technology and the potential for impacts upon the environment, human health and safety and sccio-economic systems.
Since this effort, if successful, seems ideally suited to focus the thinking of the participating fiRC staff members upon planning for our anticipated licensing activities in this area, as uell as defining the necessity for developing standards and regulations, I should be delighted to accept your invit: tion.
!!y intention is to remain in contact with fis. Cowan regardino the tonics to be discussed at the workshop, exact timing, etc.
It would be particularly helpful if participants could be supplied with recent materials regarding in-situ mining that wguld allow us to bring ourselves equally "up-to-speed" prior to the meeting. This would save time at the workshop and allow us to concentrate upon the policy issues raised by the technology, rather than the complexities of the technology itself.
