Mr. R. A. Clark, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #3 Division of Licensing

Subject:

Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit No. 1, Docket No. 50-317 Snent Fuel Fool Modification, Sunnlementary Information Gentlemen:

In response to a request by Mr. D. H. Jaffe of your staff, the following information is submitted:

The spent fuel pool structure at Calvert Cliffs has been reevaluated based upon the increased loads caused by the new "high density" (1830 assembly) snent fuel storage racks using the American Concrete Institute ACI-318-63 " Building Code Requirements for Reinforced Concrete" with the factored loads specified in Standard Review Plan 3.8.h.

We have calculated stresses at critical sections and found that these stresses are within the allowable stress limits specified in the FSAR.

If you have any further questions in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Very truly yours,
