Gentlemen:

q This letter constitutes

a. final report under 10CFR50.55(e) regarding General Electric Company type IAC Induction Disc Relays with petroleum jelly i

lubricated time dials. Our previous report to you regarding this matter was j

dated September 9, 1981.

As stated in previous reports, our investigation identified a total of one hundred and ninety-six (196) type IAC relays and nine (9) type IJCV re-lays which were to be replaced.

I All of the replacement relays have been received, tested, calibrated and installed. The defective relays have been removed from the ZPS-1 site. How-ever as stated in our last report, the General Electric Company had informed us that twenty-six (26) relays (Catalog 12AC51A801A) were shipped with a potential manufacturing defect in the insulation structure. These relays successfully passed a high potential insulation test as part of CG&E's accep-tance testing and are currently installed and in service. These relays will remain in service until additional replacement relays are installed.
