Certificate of Compliance No. 9154 was issued November 4,1981, in response to your October 29, 1981 application for approval of the Model 858 shipping package. By letter dated December 16, 1981, and HRC Invoice No. A-0099, we notified you that an approval fee of $1.200 was due for the review of that application.
In a letter dated January 26,1981, we were informed by the Department of Energy (DOE) that, through a contractual arrangement with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Technical Operations. Inc., specifically designed the package for DOE, and that the subject certificate should be reissued to DOE. Consequently, on March 8.1982, the Comission reissued the certificate to DOE and listed Technical Operations Inc., and LLNL as users.
Hotwithstanding the fact that the certificate has been reissued to DOE, this is to infom you that the $1.200 approval fee remains due and payable for the review of your October 29 application. The fee is due because Technical Operations. Inc., was the legitimate applicant for the certificate and the Comission approved the package and issued the certificate to your Company in accordance with your application. The contractual arrangements between Technical Operations Inc., LLNL and DOE, do not affect the applicability of the fee charge.
Payment of the 51,200 approval fee should be made within fifteen (15) days to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission and mailed to the NRC Office of the Controller.
