Portland General Electric Company today notified the Oregon Energy Facility S ding 32unc/
that it was withdrawing its application for a site certificate for the Pebble Springs Nuclear Plant, which was to be located near Arlington, Oregon. William Lindblad, PGE president, cited the passage of Ballot Measure 7, which imposes a moratorium on nuclear construction in Oregon, as well as revised energy load growth forcasts and the cost of licensing projects with distant completion dates as reasons for the company's decision.
The company also indicated to Region V that it expects to withdraw its application to the NRC for a construction permit, and will seek cancellation of the ASLB hearing scheduled for April 20 in Portland.
The licensee issued a press release. Media interest is expected.
Region V does not plan to issue a press release.
Region V (San Francisco) received notification of this occurrence from the licensee at 10:00 a.m. on April 9,1982.
