a The Babcock & Wilcox Company Model No. BB-250-2 Packaging Docket No. 71-5763 Encl to 1tr dtd: N 2 7 likT 1.
All pertinent drawings should be listed with current revision level indicated (s1.2.1.3).
2.
Section 2.5 - Additional Testing and Evaluations The container configuration should be identified by drawing number and the arrangement of the contents should be described in more detail for each test.
3.
Section 2.5.2.5 - Additional Accident Condition Testing (a) Confirm that the container configuration and the arrangement of the contents was the same as described in Section 2.5.
(b) Clarify the orientation chosen for the additional free drop test as described in Section 2.5.2.5.1 and discuss the effect this test had on the inner container.
4.
Provide close-up, clear photographs of damage to both the outer and inner containers due to 30-foot free drop as described in Sections 4
2.5.2.1 and 2.6.2.
5.
Based on statements contained in Section 2.6.3 it would appear the
{
design of the container with six (6) closure bolts may be marginal.
Please provide your rationale for not requiring twelve (12) closure bolts on all packages built to this design.
6.
The consolidated application references NUMEC Drawing Nos.10-F-676 and 10-F-771 both of which are assembly drawings of the BB-250-2 shipping container. Each drawing shows a detail of the outer container closure, Detail B on Drawing No.10-F-676 and Section F-F on Drawing No.10-F-771. There is a significant difference between the details.
Clarification is needed as to which of the two details represents the as-built condition of the package and also which detail was incorporated in the packages tested per Sections 2.5 and 2.6 of the consolidated application.
