DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Additional Delay In Implementation of NUREG-0737 Items II.F.1.1 (Steam Relief Monitors) and II.F.2 (Qualified Core Exit Thermocouples)
In our letter dated December 31, 1981, we stated that we did not expect the noble gas monitoring system for the steam generator power operated relief and safety vlaves to be completed until March 1, 1982. We also stated that the upgraded core exit thermocouple temperature measurement system for U. nit I could not be completed until April 30, 1982. Extensions in the required completion dates for these modifications were requested.
Due to the unavailability of parts and unforeseen installation problems we now find it necessary to request additional extensions for these modifications.
The noble gas monitoring system for the steam generator power operated relief and safety valves will require an additional thirty to sixty days to complete.
Flow sensor and amplifier problems have developed and spara parts have been difficult to obtain.
Computer problems have also been experienced.
For these reasons, an extension in the completion date for this work to April 30, 1982 is requested.
As noted in earlier corres-pondence, manual methods are available for estimating releases from this source.
The Unit 1 environmentally qualified core exit thermocouple system will not be completed by the end of April as previously reported.
Portions of the in-containment wiring must be checked, errors corrected, and connectors replaced. This work is now scheduled for the November, 1982 refueling outage, but may be completed earlier if parts are available and the work can be done during operation.
An extension until the end of the November refueling outage is therefore requested for this i t em.
Please contact us if you have any questions related to revised schedule for complying with this post TMI NRC requirement.
