Dear Sir:
In Reference (a) you requested the results of a survey, conducted on behalf of Boston Edison Company, for offsite storage, manufacture, and transportation of hazardous chemicals. A survey of offsite areas was completed April 28, 1982.
The purpose of this survey was to ascertain the type and quantity of hazardous chemicals being transported and/or stored within a five mile radius of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
The survey method used was to directly contact the agencies involved in regulating these activities.
The following agencies were queried:
Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Department of Public Safety, State Police Traffic Section; Department of Transportation - United States Coast Guard and Federal Highway Administration; Plymouth Fire Department; Plymouth Town Assessor's Office, neighboring town fire departments, neighboring town assessors' offices, Conrail, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
The results indicate that no hazardous materials are stored or manufacturered within the five mile radius of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
No evidence was found that hazardous materials are transported within the five mile radius of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
