SUMMARY

OF TETING REGARDING WESTINGHOUSE 10 DEL D AND E STEAM GENERATORS A necting was held on March 14, 1982 in Bethesda, Md. with representatives froai Westinghouse and a nurber of utilities that had purchased plants utilizing the Model D steam generators. A list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.

The purpose of the meeting was to have Westinghouse discuss the progress made since our last meeting in resolving the accelerated tube wear experienced on i

operating plants with Model 0 steam generators. A summary of the previous meeting which was held on February 19, 1982 is provided in a memorandum dated March 15,1982 from S. Chesnut to B. J. Youngblood.

The major points made by Westinghouse at the meeting are summarized below:

1.

Data Correlation and Operating Limits A power level has been estabished by Westinghouse for the 11odel D2 and D3 steam generators for no significant wear.

Duke Power Company has requested and Westinghoisse has supported a 757, power level for Model D2 and D3 steam generators for 720 hours0.00833 days
0.2 hours
0.00119 weeks
2.7396e-4 months
for wear less than the plugging limit.

Simultaneous feeding through main and auxiliary nozzles is acceptable to Westinghouse within established limits.

Field instnamentation data from 3 operating plants has been evaluated by Westinghouse, judged to be consistent and has been used in estimating wear.

A refined oddy current testing technique indicates wear depths lower than previously reported.

2.

Program for Model D2 and D3 Steam Generators

- Alternate modifications have been design and tested.

Full scale testing in the Swedish State Power Board loop is scheduled for completion by 6/14/82.
