Wis letter provides the schedule for the implementation of postaccident effluent sampling for iodine and particulates in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(f), and thereby satisfies the requirements and commitements of References 1, 2 and 3 with regard to Item II.F.1.2.
W e Power Authority intends to modify the plant by installing a flow dilution sarpling system which will permit the sanpling and analysis of radiciodines and particulates using IURB3-0737 source terms as a design basis. %e design will incorporate features to reduce the potential for the plateout of both iodine and particulates. The Authority has developed a schedule for: specification preparation and review; bid request, receipt and evaluation; contract award; engineering and design; material procurement; installation; and, system preoperation checks. %e Authority intends to have the system operational by October 31, 1983.
We schedule for the completion of this item was developed so that it would be consistent with the integrated schedule submitted in Reference 4.
%e justification for the October 31, 1983 coupletion date is also detailed in Reference 4.
The Power Authority considers the existing sanpling system adequate to provide an interim capability for effluent sampling.
If you have any further questions, please contact Mr. J. A. Gray, Jr.
of my staff.
Very truly yours, I
