This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject deficiency, initially reported to the Commission under the require-ments of 10CFR50.55(e).
American Warming and Ventilating Company (AWV), supplier of essential llVAC dampers notified CG&E that thirteen (13) damper act-untors were found deficient in that they were mounted by a single bolt as opposed to the four bolt mounting method which was originally qualified for seismic loading. AWV has previously notified the Commission of this defect under 10CFR21.
AWV has submitted test results for a modified bracket with a t
four bolt mounting arrangement. Our Architect / Engineer, Sargent and Lundy (S&L) reviewed and rejected the report and has suggested that the existing mounting brackets be replaced with the originally quali-i fied mounting arrangement. AWV has agreed to review this suggestion and inform S&L of their decision.
It is expected that this item will be resolved by December 31, 1982, at which time a final report will be submitted, i
