Dear Mr. Denton:
The purpose o f this letter is to provide you with additional information regarding rebar damage at LaSalle County Station.
On May 7, 1982, Reference (a) provided you with a report which addressed concerns regarding rebar damage and of f gas building roof thickness.
On May 10, 1982, Commonwealth Edison Company received a copy o f Reference (b), in which the Attorney General o f Illinois requested "that the NRC and the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
. investigate thoroughly the extent o f the rebar damage in all safety-related structures, and particularly the primary containment, prior to granting to Edison the authority to conduct low power testing beyond initial criticality and up to five percen t power. "
Attached for your information is a supplemental report on rebar damage in the suppression pool basemat, the suppression pool walls, and the reactor pedestal.
