20-15373-01 As a result of the inspection conducted on April 22, 1982, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy, 10 CFR 2, Appendix C, the following violations were identified:

A.

Condition 14 of License No. 20-15373-01 requires that licensed material be possessed and used in accordance with statements, representations, and procedures contained in an application dated October 31, 1977 and letters dated September 30, 1977 and January 5,1978.

Item II of the application dated October 31, 1977, entitled, " Instrument Calibration" requires that survey instruments be calibrated quarterly.

Contrary to the above, as of April 22, 1982, survey instruments were cali-brated semiannually in 1980 and 1981, rather than quarterly.

This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement VI).

B.

10 CFR 35.14(e) requires that sealed calibration or reference sources j

possessed pursuant to 10 CFR 35.14(d) be tested for leakage and/or conta-mination at intervals not to exceed six months.

Contrary to the above, as of April 22, 1982 218 microcurie sealed cesium-137 reference source was not leak tested since July 1979, an interval exceeding six months.

This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement VI).

required to submit to this of fice within thirty days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including:

(1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.
