REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT TO THE U.S. NRC CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE USA /9132/B()F REVISION 2 (MODEL T-3 CASK)
An amendment to the model T-3 Cask Certificate of Compliance USA /9132/B()F Revision 2 is requested to allow shipment of the Fast Test Reactor fuel pin type defined below. The initial shipment of this pin type is needed within the next 7-10 days to provide fuel performance [ F q
data related to FFTF operation.

Not to exceed 45 grams fissile plutonium

A package of eight pins will not exceed 360 grams fissile plutonium and 12 grams U-235.
Decay Heat:
Not to exceed 4 watts per pin or 32 watts for an eight pin shipment.
Fissile Class I The maximum fissile content of 372 grams in the eight pin payload requested in this amendment is well within the 10 kg limit autho-rized by the current T-3 cask Certificate of Compliance and is there-fore considered within the provision of a fissile Class I shipment.

The fuel pins will be packaged in an Ident 1578 container described in the current T-3 Cask Safety Analysis Report package.
The requested amendment to the current Certificate of Compliance will be deleted when a revised certificate is issued in response to the Nuclear Packaging, Inc. letter to you dated April 13, 1982, transmitting the Revision 8 amendment to the T-3 Cask Safety Analysis Report.
