NRC STAFF MOTION FOR ADDITIONAL TIME TO FILE RESPONSES T0-CONTENTIONS At the special prehearing conference held on May 5, 1982, the Licensing Board granted intervenors until May 26, 1982, to submit a list of contentions and their specific bases as required by 10 C.F.R. 9 2.714(b).

(Tr. 73).

In addition, the Board granted the Applicant and Staff until June 2, 1982, to respond to these contentions.

(Tr. 74).

Staff counsel will be absent from the office from May 26 through May 31 and on June 3 and 4, 1982. Co-counsel is involved in hearing during the week of May 24, 1982. Accordingly, the Staff would have insufficient time to formulate a meaningful response to the contentions by June 2, er several days thereafter. Therefore, we request an extension of time until June 11, 1982, in which to file responses to the contentions.

This requested extension would neither delay this proceeding nor prejudice the rights of any party.

In addition, the Staff has contacted the parties (Applicant, Coalition for Safe Power, and the National Wildlife Federation e.
