Dear Mr. Miller:
Reference:
NRC letter 3/16/82, J. R. Miller to G.
E. Wuller, IP, subj ect :
ACRS Followup Actions Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-461 This is a preliminary response to the referenced letter regarding the ACRS request for an evaluation of some equipment seismic capability.
Attached is Illinois Power's proposed equipment seismic assessment program which was developed in response to the NRC Staff and ACRS recommendations.
We believe this program provides additional level of assurance that the Clinton Power Station essential equipment will remain opera-tional during the worst anticipated seismic event.
The program includes analytical verification and field inspection of essential equipment.
The ficld inspection will incorporate system interaction considerations.
In summary, we feel this program meets the intent of agreements reached between the Staff and ACRS in earlier nego-tiations.
We would appreciate your review and comment on this program at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely, G. E. Wuller Supervisor - Licensing Nuclear Station Engineering GEW/lt cc:
