500 SOUTH 27TH STREET, DECATUR, ILLINOIS 62525 May 17, 1982 Mr. Howard J. Faulkner Project Manager Standardization & Special Projects Branch Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

20555

Dear Mr. Faulkner:

Submittal of Position Papers for Licensing Review Group-II Issues I am enclosing, for NRC staff review, Volume V of the LRG-II Position Papers covering 7 of the 56 LRG-II issues.

Previous submittals (November 20, 1981; December 3, 1981; January 25, 1982; and March 12, 1982) covered a total of 49 of the issues.

Thus to date, we have responded to all of the 56 issues.

In addition, we have provided a revision to one issue, 1-HFS, on January 25, and to a second issue, 4-CPB, on March 12.

In response to additional discussion with the NRC staff, revisions to position papers on the following issues are also enclosed in Volume V; l-RSB, 8-RSB, 1-ICSB and 3-CPB.

While we have now addressed all 56 issues, we under-stand that several of our responses are not fully adequate for closing the issue.

In order to remedy this situation, the LRG-II working group will meet in mid-June to develop a course of action and schedule for each of these outstanding issues.

Any feedback that you can provide to us prior to our meeting concerning the acceptability of the position papers contained in Volume V will help us to plan the full scope of our " clean-up" effort.

Shortly after our meeting, we will provide you with a status report.
