The information is as initially received without verifi-cation or evaluation and is basically all that is known by NRC staff on this date.

Subject:

TMI-l NON-BINDING RESTART REFERENDUM RESULTS On March 18, 1982, a local referendum question appeared on the Pennsylvania Primary Election Ballots for Dauphin, Cumberland, and Lebanon Counties. The question was:

"Do you favor the restart of TMI-l which was not involved in the accident on March 28, 1979?" The unofficial results that were reported in the local media this morning were:

V0TES County N0 YES 1

1 Dauphin 21,905 8,740 Cumberland 10,670 5,838 (87 of 88 precincts reporting)

Lebanon 6,113 4,552 Voter turnout throughout the state was considered light. As an example, Dauphin County had 35% of the registered voters voting yesterday.

I Media interest occurred because of public sensitivity to TMI related events. The licensee is responding to press inquiries. The NRC does not plan to issue a press

. release at this time. The Couaonwealth of Pennsylvania was informed.

This preliminary notification is issued for information only and no further action by the NRC is anticipated.

The NRC Site Staff received notification of this occurrence by monitoring events as they occurred, and this information was current as of 7:00 AM, today. pj l'ysuD
