Dear Mr. Comey:
In accordance with Item 2010(b).of the Atomic 3afety and Licensing Board!s (ASLB) Partial Initial Decision on.fMI-1, FEMA's Office of:Public Affairs has reviewed the changes made in the five risk county brochuresiand the PEMA pamphlet on emergency preparedness.
The staff found these publications to be quite. adequate for the intended 1
purpose of public infomation and education for pemanent residents and -
[
transient population-within the emergency planning zone.
.In a phone conversation with a member of my staff,'.several suggestions were
~
made.for further refinements... These. suggestions were.largely. editorial in
-nature, however, a request was made to simplify the evacuation maps on each "of the five county. risk brochures..We were assured,.at that time, that this had already been addressed and several of the extraneous lines.had been removed making the maps much clearer. Another suggestion was that portions of the brochures (the "Where to Go" section).be made.available in magnified fom for the visually impaired and. senior citizens..
'I am making a copy of this letter available to the Nuclear Regulatory-Comission for inclusion in the record of actions.taken in response to the
'ASLB's instructions in its Partial Initial Decision on TMI-1..
Sincerely,
.Signe'd : Lee M. Thoma3 i
