D. R. Kunze, Plant Protection Analyst Licensing Section #1
SUBJECT:
SH0REHAM tiUCLEAR POWER STATI0ft 73.55 C0tiFIRMATORY SITE VISIT On April 26 and 27,1982, a confinnatory site visit was conducted at Shoreham fluclear Power Station for the purpose of detennining the status of the security program implementation and compliance with the security planning documents.
Enclosed are my findings which contain Safeguards Information.
In summary, there are two areas of concern.
First, considering the applicant's target date for fuel load of September 1982, current construction status, and construction progress and scheduling, the possibility exists that the Shoreham security system may not be completely operational at the target date. The appli-cant, however, claims that he possesses and will utilize sufficient resources to have the security system completed and operating in time.
The second area concerns the fact that the security system under construction and the security system described in the security plan are not physically identical.
In general we believe that these changes made by the applicant do not decrease the effectiveness of the security system as approved. However, a timely revision to the security plan by the applicant and review of these changes by the staff will be required to avoid impacting the licensing process.
The above findings were presented to the applicant during an exit interview on April 28, 1982.
