I live in Westchester, not far from the IP facility, and I am extremely concerned about the decommissioning process. I believe that Holtec is a terrible choice for the decommissioning of this important site. I have read that the company was suspended from contracting with the Tennessee Valley Authority because it had bribed workers there and then further lied about this situation in order to receive tax breaks from NJ! Holtec has little to no experience in decommissioning a nuclear power plant and has been involved in enough shady business to alarm a series of whistleblowers to call out the company's propensity for taking unreasonable risks with spent nuclear fuel cannisters. Holtec is not backing the Indian Point project with its own money and is likely to run over budget and leave us stranded. I do not think we should trust Holtec with control of the $2 billion trust fund. We need to choose a company that will do the IP commissioning in a safe, transparent, and fiscally sound manner.
