[External_Sender] Request for Hearing on Indian Point License Transfer Date:
Monday, February 17, 2020 7:58:24 PM RE: NRC-2020-0021 To Whom It May Concern:
As a resident of the Hudson Valley who lives within 50 miles of Indian Point, I am deeply concerned about the lawless record of the companyHoltecto whom Entergy has chosen to sellthe plantfor decommissioning. They have been banned from doing business with the World Bank for 10 years, have walked out on decommissioning sites in other countries, andare currently in legal trouble in New Jersey for bribery of local officials. After acompany representative made a presentation to concerned citizens, not one person left the room feeling confident of the ability of this company to handle the decommissioning of Indian Point is a safe and secure manner.Too many items were left out - like the lake of radioactive water under the site or detailed information about the thin walled Holtec casks that are having so much difficulty at other reactor sites. Their written report was no better. There was no attention to dealing with the gas pipeline that runs so near the spent fuel pools. The fact that they submitted a PSDAR prior to procuring the license says volumes about their regard for and knowledge of regulations.
It is essential to have a hearing on this license transfer in our region, since Decommissioning Indian Point is not a local matter. It concerns all of us who live within the 50 mile radius of the plant. County Executive George Latimer has offered you a place to hold this meeting. I hope that you will accept his offer for the health and safety or our community.
Sincerely, Joan Gussow Piermont, New York
